Why I'm Not "With Fred" Anymore...
I'm a Republican, it took me a long time to figure out that was what I am, but I yam what I yam. Why? It is my personal belief that a human fetus in the womb is alive, and once a Man and Woman has created this human, they need to take responsibility for this human. Not destroy it. Democrats don't seem to understand that. I am a big believer of personal responsibility. It is not the government's job to take care of me and make sure that I am safe. Neither Democrats or the majority of Republicans understand that either. It is my job to take care of me and my children. The bigger the government is, the less freedom I have.
Before the last election I was exasperated with the current administration, and I do not adhere to the standard beliefs of Democrats, so I was looking for an alternative party to follow. The closest I had was Libertarian. I wasn't, however, ready to bite that bullet just yet. There was many things that Libertarian's must follow that I cannot swallow. Since they believe in following the Constitution to the letter, they, of course, believe in upholding the woman's right to have an abortion. Something I am clearly against. I, of course, would never go up to a woman and tell her she can't do it. As it stands, it is within her legal right. End of story. No debate. I don't HAVE to be pro-choice though (it is about personal responsibility folks, remember?).
So back to why I'm not "With Fred". I should have never been "With Fred" in the first place. He is just another one of those Republican bullies that just crawl under my skin. I'm tired of the war that is killing our soldiers, I'm tired of the boycott on Cuba, I'm tired of American military posts in other countries not our own. Why are they there? How many foreign countries have military posts in our country? Hmmm.. lemme see... NONE.
The world is not our enemy and I'm tired of those bully politicians making me think that it is.
So that is why I'm still going to vote Republican IF it is Ron Paul runnin'.

Glad to see you've come to your senses, Fred Thompson is simply BushCheney 2.0. Precisely what this country does NOT need.
Keep bloggin'! You're not all that boring.
;)
I like your way of thinking ...

Surprisingly, Germany has a military air base in far west Texas near El Paso.
That is surprising, Jeff! Thanks for the info. I had no idea. Learn something new every single day.
Well said, until I heard Ron Paul I didn't have a clear choice for candidate, but the things he's been saying are the same things I've been saying for the last 15 years. There are a few areas that we differ personally, but in those cases the view that they should be States decisions and not federal decisions brings me back into agreement. So although I may not agree with all his positions I agree they should be handled at the state level.
I've set up a blog on Ron Paul as well, you can view it here...

Thanks Jamie,
Your observation about good old Fred is spot on. We are tired of politicians taking care of special interest groups at our expense. Ron Paul is so unique, so uncompromised, and so principled. His is an amazing campaign to follow. Never a dull day.

Here here! Well said. But Paul isn't just for conservatives, he's for all Americans. He brings together black and white, rich and poor, left and right...
Freedom is for everyone!!!
